Abstract

Academic engagement in the past few years has been in the consideration of researchers because it will eventually lead to the successful academic performance of students. Although there are various factors that can impact academic engagement, among them the personality of a student is one factor. Previously studies focused on the big five personality model and less attention is given to proactive personality. The current study examines the relationship of proactive personality and Academic engagement while taking peer relationship and teacher-student relationship as a mediator. By taking undergraduate university students as a population of a study, this study analyzes the data with the help of using SPSS and Smart-PLS. The findings reveal that a student’s proactive personality and student academic engagement are positively related to each other. The teacher-student relationship is a significant mediator between the independent variable and dependent variable while the peer relationship has not mediated the relationship.
